ORGIIS Ghana Organized a Simulation, Community Flood And Drought Plan Session for Various Stakeholders And The Kunkua Community.

A simulation community flood and drought management plan session for various stakeholders and Kunkua-Daliga community members.



The Organistion for Indigenous Initiatives and Sustainability (ORGIIS, Ghana) has collaborated with Water resource commission to organize a simulation community flood and drought management plan session for various stakeholders who are key players when it comes to flood and drought issues. This has become necessary after the organization for indigenous initiatives and sustainability (ORGIIS Ghana) has installed early warning systems such as a meteorological station, a community information center and a first aid kit to the community members. A committee was set up and trained on how to provide first aid assistance to a victim before calling on the professional health worker. 

Below are the list of stakeholders in the engagement:

  • NADMO
  • Ghana health service
  • Agriculture department of Bongo
  • The Bongo District Assembly
  • Chief and elders
  • Women groups and youth groups

The said program was meant to sensitize the Flood and Drought Management Committee in Kunkua Community and other stakeholders on strengths, weakness, gaps and scope of Improvements for improved flood or Drought risk management.

A one day Community Flood and/or Drought Management Plan was organized to educate people on practical sessions in flood risk and recovery exercises as well as an exercise on flood response

There was a drama scene acted where a victim was rescued by the first aid team through consultation by the Community Flood and Drought Management Committe
